2018 Ram Sale Report
The Yanko had a complete clearance of 72 Merino and Poll Merino rams for overall average price of $2,541.67 at the on property sale.
The top price of $9,250 was paid for Lot 3, a May/June 2017 drop Merino ram sired by The Yanko Enfield and purchased by Lawrence and Melissa Clifford, Bindaree Merinos, Berridale. With the highest GFW% in the sale, the ram measured 18 micron, SD of 3.3 and 99.9 percent comfort factor on a structurally correct frame. Mr Clifford has seen the ram at South West Slopes Stud Merino field day at Harden and immediately taken by the ram’s structure, constitution and quality of fleece. He said he believes the ram will be of great benefit in lifting the productivity of his stud flock.
The sire, The Yanko Enfield is the leading sire for CFW% in the Sire Evaluation at the Jugiong site.
Volume buyers were Bungeeltap Pty Ltd, Macedon who purchased nine rams to top price of $5,000 and average of $3,583: Clare Partners, Clare Station, Balranald, 11 rams for $1,250 apiece and Curry Farming, Illabo, 8 rams for $1,656 average. Other significant prices also included $5,500 twice paid by Nauvess Pty Ltd., Longwood and Green Valley Prop., Eurongilly and $4,500 purchase made by Roberts Wool, Evandale, Tasmania on behalf of a client.
Considering the very dry times it was most heartening to see many new and return buyers from New South Wales, Victoria and Queensland and thanks go to all bidders and underbidders.
