Shearing, the season and lambing…

Posted on August 5, 2017

After a slow start to the year followed by a welcome autumn break we have seen good feed growth in the Riverina. This has allowed lambing to go forward with no additional feeding requirements for lactating ewes and this has shown in percentages at marking. The maidens achieved a lambing percentage of 114% with an overall stud and flock average of 120%. Shearing was held in early March and with wool price at record levels it was a delight to see the shed running. Fleece weights were consistent and the clip averaging 20.2 microns. Young rams have benefited from the early break, providing them a base to grow out from with ample feed to keep up to growing bodies. We are pleased with the direction the sale team is going and look forward to presenting them on Thursday 28th September.
